The Program of Health is the nerve center in providing and coordinating medical information, which includes:
- Providing a reference of doctors from whom one may choose to obtain medical services
- Arrange transportation for the disabled and those who are desperately in need
- Provide interpretation services and Schedule appointments for Participants who are non-English speakers
- Pregnancy testing and counseling
- Substance abuse
- Family planning
Our Health Program will focus on preserving and enhancing the physical and/or mental health of the Ethio-American community, which includes the following referral services:
- Children’s Health
- Women, Infant & Children Program
- Infection Control
- Maternity Services
- Cancer programs and Information
- Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program
- Senior Health and Health Services
In addition, our Health Program will have volunteers from our community health professionals and others to provide with:
- Rehabilitative Medical Services, Emergency Assistance, Residential/Custodial Care
- Recommend to suitable Health Treatment Facilities/Hospitals
- Establishing Crisis and Suicide Hotlines
- Referring Nursing Homes
- Public Health Support Services
- Vaccination Services
- Community Health Care, Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment and Prevention Groups, etc
In general, the primary task of our Health Program is to:
- Monitor health status to identify and solve community health problems
- Diagnose and investigate health problems and health hazards in the community
- Inform, educate, and empower our community about health issues
- Mobilize community partnerships and action to identify and solve health problems
- Develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts
- Educate laws and regulations that protect health and ensure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable
- Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable
